Description:

Stass Paraschos is the founder of the Lemba School of Art. In 1966, he was involved in a notorious court case in the United Kingdom for displaying paintings that were ‘lewd and obscene’. In 2008, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Bolton. The ‘lewd and obscene’ paintings were eventually bought by and exhibited at the Tate Modern. The painting abounds in strong colours and depicts the artist, his students and his model at work in his courtyard.
