By downloading the app on his/her device, a user will be able to choose from a selection of routes around the town which will appear on an interactive map. For each site appearing on the map, the user will be able to receive information in the form of an audio guide together with paintings and old photographs from the museum’s collections relevant to each site.

Main Routes

The main routes “Nicosia – South” and “Nicosia – North” are offered in 8 languages: Greek, Turkish, English, French, Russian, German, Italian and Spanish.

Additional Routes

Additional routes (for the time being only offered in English) include:

  • Religious Sites: A tour of religious sites found within both parts of the walled city of Nicosia.
  • Venetian Walls of Nicosia: A route that was developed for the celebrations of the 1600 years from the founding of the City of Venice in 2021. The route takes the visitor on a tour around the walls of Nicosia designed and built by the Venetians more than 450 years ago.
  • CVAR Treasure Hunt: A family treasure hunt that follows Lady Katherine around old Nicosia in her quest to save her collection from bandits while discovering secrets of the city.

The app was developed after the CVAR received an award from “European Heritage Days Stories”, a project within the framework of European Heritage Days joint action of the Council of Europe and the European Union.
