Description:
The watercolour portrays a late afternoon scene in the bay of Limassol with the promontory of Akrotiri appearing in the background. The focal point of the picture is H.M.S The Maine entering the waters of Limassol. Being a big ship, it could probably not enter the harbour, so many small boats are seen around it transporting goods and passengers to the shore. A smaller cargo ship and a sailing boat with large white sails complete the picture.
