Description:
A marine artist who was working for the Graphic Magazine as an illustrator in the 1880-90s, Wyllie, in 1893, travelled in the Mediterranean and produced a number of watercolours. His paintings of Cyprus are mainly executed from aboard the ship, portraying the sea shore. The artist revisited Cyprus in 1923 when again he produced a watercolour of the shoreline of Larnaca and of the sea scattered with sea boats. Wyllie’s strength lies in his rendering of the sea.
