Description:

A marine artist who was working for the Graphic Magazine as an illustrator in the 1880-90's, Wyllie, in 1893, travelled in the Mediterranean and produced a number of watercolours. His paintings of Cyprus are mainly executed from aboard the ship, portraying the sea shore. The ship in the watercolour is the Garonne. Parked at the roadstead of Larnaca, the ship is surrounded by fishing and transport boats waiting to take passengers onshore.
