Description:

Frank Wooton was an aviation artist who was sent to Cyprus in 1949-1950 by the Colonial Office to portray Cyprus for tourist purposes. He made a number of paintings which were also turned into posters. The poster portrays one of the most popular beaches in Famagusta. It advertises Cyprus as a holiday isle in the Mediterranean and was printed by the Colonial Office in Larnaca. Two elements attest to the material culture of the fifties: the architecture of the building in the background on the right and the bikinis worn by the bathers.
