Description:

This is an imaginary representation of Cyprus. There is no indication as to its exact symbolism. Yet, at the risk of overstretching one’s imagination, the British lion appears resting on the Cypriot shore separated from the Orient by the passing American or British fleet. The Orient, whether that of Anatolia or Arabia, is depicted in the form of minarets extruding from the urban landscape while nomads appear camping or venturing in the desert.
