Description:

William Turner was attached to the British Embassy in Constantinople and visited Cyprus in 1815. While in Cyprus, Turner drew his own sketches, although an amateur artist. He visited the village of Dali drawn there by the reputation of ancient Idalion and the many antiquities. The engraving is a distant view of the village of Dali, a small humble village with flat roofed houses made of mud brick. Dali served as a station for watering horses on the road between Larnaca and Nicosia.
