Description:

The monastery of Chrysoroyiatissa lies in the Paphos mountains, a couple of kilometers above the village of Panayia. It is a picturesque position and a quiet, remote monastery, never with many monks. The view is of the interior courtyard from where one can enter the church. The entrance to the church has protruding eaves to protect it from the rain and snow. Opposite, in a row are the monks’ cells, while the church bell tower stands out against the sky. The artist has used strong clear colours, not usually used by others when depicting this scene. Two monks seem to converse in the middle of the courtyard.
