Description:

Codrington spent much time in Cyprus and travelled all over the island. His brushes and palette were employed to glorify the light and the colours of the landscape and to record most of the important monuments. The perspective of this watercolour presents the arches of Bellapais Abbey having behind them the mountains, therefore this view must be granted artistic licence because the arches have either the cloisters or the archbishop's palace on either side.
