Bella Pais Abbey

Creator:

Chenevix-Trench, May (1887 - 1977)

Date:

1937

Description:

Perhaps this is the best perspective of Bella Pais Abbey taken from the west as one approaches it. It appears perched on the side of the cliff while at its feet lies a deep valley ending at the shore of Kyrenia. The artist has faithfully represented the lush vegetation of the area and has imbued the painting with a nostalgic romantic atmosphere.
