Myrtou

Creator:

Chenevix-Trench, May (1887 - 1977)

Date:

1937

Description:

The village of Myrtou lies in the Kyrenia district. The watercolour is a scene of Cypriot country life whereby people made a habit of eating outdoors. The habit is still kept by Cypriots in urban areas who like having supper on their verandas. Beautiful vegetation provides shade for the house which has the road passing in front of it over a bridge.
