Description:

Peter McPartlin is a British photographer and amateur artist. This oil on board depicts a scene from a village. It could be any village although the alley points to the Famagusta district. Three figures who appear to be Turkish women are talking in the alley while in the background there is a traditional wicker chair. It was customary for people to sit outdoors in late afternoon and interact with neighbours and passers by. The practice continued among first generation rural immigrants to Cypriot towns.
