US Consul General Taylor Belcher sent a telegram to the Secretary of State on recent developments in Cyprus:
Security operations in Paphos area ended yesterday. Twenty five EOKA members and a large quantity of arms and ammunition in ten-day search of area.
Comment: We do not agree fully with British assessment that truce is result of recent operational success against EOKA. More emphasis should be given to probability Makarios ordered taping off violence during UN.
