Rupert Gunnis noted in his diary

Rupert Gunnis noted in his diary:

Quiet day, some people to tea. The Bishop of Kition and Mr Stavrinakis in to say good bye before their departure to England to ask for Union with Greece from the Labour Government. They have collected £600 from the churches for their expenses and tell me they are spending three days in Paris and living at the Mayfair in London. One of the things they are asking for is the dismissal of all British officials except the Governor, A.G. and Treasurer and myself! Damn their impertinence! I hope they get their bottoms birched in England.
