Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Sir Ronald Storrs and inspector of Antiquities, never stopped working:

Started removing the floor of the Emirighe Mosque which has a crazy pavement of medieval tomb slabs, many of them face downwards and transported the fragments to the Bedestan where I shall try to put them together. I am replacing the mosque floor by the “marble” slabs which have been turned out of the museum, a most interesting work and one I have wanted to do for a long time. The Bishop to dinner and I had a long talk with him. Vera, lady Torrington and Miss Neff to tea, the former really not at all a bad woman.
