Alfred Westholm, member of the Swedish Archaeological Expedition, wrote to his mother:

At Karavostasi we have 90 men, while at Lapithos they make do with 10. At Karavostasi the long profile is now complete and everything has been moved to the theatre. The tremendous problem of moving earth put great obstacles in our way and everything is slowed down because we must cart all the dirt some 50 metres away from the site. At the moment, the stage and the grand steps up to it are the main focus of interest. The orchestra floor will be cleared this week from under its 3½-metre layer. Judging so far the theatre seems to have been an enormous one, as we have just come upon an additional surrounding wall some metres outside the other one. The natural cliff with its seats would in this case have been heightened with a third built “row”. This is an extremely interesting form.
