4 September 1931: Rupert Gunnis attended the funeral of Houston, the great benefactor of Kyrenia.
“Over to Kyrenia, lunch and bathed then changed into black and to the funeral of old Mr Houston who had died yesterday. He was an old man who had been here since 1878 living in a two roomed house though he was the owner of Johnstone castle in Scotland and £12,000 a year! A charming little private grave yard near the sea.”
The picture is from Rina Katselli’s book Kyrenia.
