…the peoples of the world, of whatever race or religion, derive their inspiration from one heavenly Source, and are the subjects of one God.
— Bahá’u’lláh—
Born in Shiraz, a city in southern Iran, on 20 October 1819, the Báb was the symbolic gate between past ages of prophecy and a new age of fulfilment for humanity. His primary purpose was to awaken the people to the fact that a new period in human history had begun, one which would witness the unification of the entire human race and the emergence of a world civilization of spiritual and material prosperity.
The Bahá’í Faith began with the mission entrusted by God to two Divine Messengers—the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh. Today, the distinctive unity of the Faith They founded stems from explicit instructions given by Bahá’u’lláh that have assured the continuity of guidance following His passing. A Bahá’í accepts the divine authority of the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh and of their appointed successors.
The Bahá’í Faith was established in Cyprus in the 1950s. Since that time, increasing numbers of people throughout the country have been finding inspiration and guidance in the teachings of Bahá’u’lláh. Among the principles that inspire them are the oneness of humanity, the need for universal education and the elimination of all forms of prejudice.
