The educational programme 'Cypriot Trail' offers an exploration of the natural and cultural identity of the island, through they eyes of the travelling artists who visited Cyprus from the 18th to the 20th century. Through paintings depicting Cypriot landscapes, children discover plants, animals, seasons, scents and sounds - a true habitat of stories and memories.
The facilitator guides the young naturalists through a journey where paintings become sources of knowledge about agriculture, customs, changes to the natural environment. Through various designing tasks, children put natural inhabitant in its historical context.
The programme concludes with a creative workshop, during which each child makes their "naturalist's diary" - a personal memorabilia inspired by Cypriot nature and images of the past, offering a new voice to the trails of the island.
