Description:

Of Russian descent, Olga Raouf came to Cyprus with her family in 1925. She taught music at the American Academy in Larnaca. In 1927, she married the Turkish Cypriot doctor Raouf Bodamyalizade. She is regarded one of the first Turkish Cypriot artists. Her style is of the traditional school of representational art with influences from the Russian school of art. The picture is of the aqueduct of Larnaca, also known as Kamares, built in 1747 by Abu Bekir Pasha, Ottoman Governor of Larnaca. It was used until 1939 and consists of 75 arches. It was considered the most prominent work of water supply ever built in Cyprus.
