Description:

The Lusignan church of St. Catharine’s was turned into Haidar Pasha Mosque in 1572. It is one of the most beautiful gothic monuments in Nicosia. Above the sacristy is a curious chamber which could have been used as a treasury. The brackets left and right of the arch above the north doorway are decorated with a figure of a dragon and the figure of Melusine. Fleur-de-lis decorate as finials the arches above doorways. This elegant church lies just behind St. Sophia.
