Description:

John Evelyn was an English writer, gardener and diarist who travelled to the East in the 1670’s. This is a view of the Salines (Scala) from the sea with annotations identifying the fort, the mosque, the Greek church and the custom houses. It is perhaps one of the few views of the town of Larnaca appearing in the background behind the Salina.
