Description:
The watercolour portrays the village of Platres with its traditional houses made with local stone and roofs covered with matting and brushwood. On the lower right corner a Turk is squatting on the ground. He is wearing the typical red fez with a white rounded scarf. A clay water pot stands next to him. A figure of a Greek, wearing a blue pantaloon, and holding a child, is ascending the stone steps leading to a two-storey house with a protruding veranda where more figures are sitting, chatting. The background gives an extensive view of the Troodos mountains.
