This poster is framed with the coat of arms of the various British colonies. Six views of significant battles fought by the British army during World War I form the main subject of the painting. They include the retreat from Mons 1914, Gallipoli 1915, the battle of the Somme 1916, Palestine 1917, Passchendaele 1917, and the defence of Amiens 1918. Cyprus appears half way down on the left with two passant lions.
