Description:

The Cypriot female peasant of Carpass wears heavily embroidered long pantaloons covered by a long white chemise over which she wears the sayia . This is an overcoat hooked together below the breast allowing a frontal view of the chemise and its decorated top part covering the bosom. Her head is covered with a colorful scarf and she is wearing a long white cape often woven by coarse, raw, sheep’s hair.
