Description:

The old mosque refers to the Hala Sultan Tekke, otherwise known as Umm Haram Tekke, situated on the west shore of Larnaca salt lake. In the 7th C. a relative of the prophet Mohammad arrived on the island during one of the Arab raids and falling off her mule met her death. She was buried in situ and the mosque was built over her grave in the 18th C. Surrounded by beautiful palm trees and lush vegetation the mosque with the tomb and a special cemetery for dignitaries is highly regarded by all moslems.
