Description:

The Turkish Cypriot Cevdet Cagdas is an educationalist and museologist who painted extensively views of his country. The view is of the small town of Morphou, then a village. Humble houses surround the old church of the patron saint Mamas. Morphou lies within a fertile plain at the foothills of the Kyrenia mountain range as depicted by the artist with the extensive use of green. Electricity poles became a conspicuous feature of the island at the time, marking its transition to modernity.
