Kyrenia mountains

Creator:

Hammond, Hermione, 1910-1993

Date:

1951

Description:

Hermione Hammond was the wife of a British administrator who served in Cyprus in 1951. The view is of the mountain range of Kyrenia taken from the standpoint of Ayios Ambrosios village. The narrow valley between the mountains and the sea was rich in olive and carob trees. The cultivation of crops was limited. Hammond is very successful in blending the blues of the sky and the mountains in a realistic way.
