Description:

Gwendolen Frere was the daughter of Judge Bertle Frere who arrived in 1897 and took up judicial duty in the British administration of Cyprus. She was an amateur artist who executed a series of watercolours of Nicosia and Kyrenia. Typical Kyrenia houses are portrayed in this picture. Mostly two-storey, white washed and with flat roofs, these were scattered around the harbour and climbed towards the mountain.
