Creator:

Rudyerd, Reginald Barrows (1848-1888)

Date:

1888

Description:

This is a view of the village of Kakopetria (misspelled by the artist) where the local architecture of houses differs from that of the lowlands. Kakopetria is situated in the foothills of the Troodos mountain range. These roofs are pitched and covered with tiles to sustain the snow often reaching the area. Furthermore, certain of the houses in Kakopetria are of two or three storeys indicating that this was an affluent village.
