House at Gourri

Creator:

Bruce-Lockhart, James (Jamie) (1941-2018)

Date:

1978

Description:

The village of Gourri lies just under the village of Fikardou on the Macheras mountain. At the entrance of the village, still stands this beautiful village house, empty and derelict, under the shade of a cluster of trees. The magic of this house still inspires the imagination of the passer by, as it did to the artist. In its garden, are half buried huge clay pots where once wine and olive were stored. This is a rustic scene of a house belonging to a village notable.
