Description:

Milla Cavendish lived in Cyprus with her family for many years in the second half of the 20th century. She had a passion for the wild flowers of Cyprus and recorded them meticulously in a series of watercolours. These were published in an album by the Hellenic bank in 1998. Cavendish’s reproductions of the flora of Cyprus were rendered in a delicate and faithful manner. Most importantly, she included the names of each plant and the location in which it was found. The cyclamen, portrayed in this watercolour, has been adopted as the national flower of Cyprus.
