Description:

This pencil drawing depicts a bucolic scene in Cyprus. The skyline of St Hilarion looms large in the background. Eleonora falcons fly over the castle adding to its magnificence. Yet the castle represents only a background detail to the drawing. The dark figures of an elderly lady working in the fields and her donkey occupy central space in the picture. They are surrounded by goats, century old olive trees and vegetation; all adding to the bucolic character of the scene. The artist has used an antiquated piece of paper of almost brown color, to achieve a bucolic and nostalgic effect. The grandeur of nature vis-à-vis the Landscapes and the small size of the female figure emphasizes the fragility of humanity.
