Description:

This is an amateurish watercolour depicting the seashore of Limassol from the sea. It comes from the diaries kept by Midshipman George P. Green of the H.M.S Empress of India whose captain was Charles Campbell and which had landed in Limassol 16 June 1898. The only identifiable feature in the watercolour is the church of Ayia Napa on the left hand corner. Limassol appears to be a small fishing village at the time.
