Chrysaliniotissa church

Creator:

Padroni, Luca (b.1973)

Date:

2002

Medium:

Pencil

Description:

Luca Padroni exhibited his works performed in Cyprus at the Pantheon Gallery in September 2002. This pencil drawing of Panayia Chrysaliniotissa, an 11th century church within the walled city of Nicosia, accentuates the flamboyant décor of the building. The artist brings forward the icon of the Virgin in order to leave no doubt as to the identity of the church. Although a sketch probably done in haste, it is a charming picture of an inviting building holding more within for the viewer.
