Description:

Born in Salonica, Electra Megaw’s maiden name was Magnoletsi. She studied at the Slade School of Art and spent most of her life in Greece and Cyprus specialising in painting the flora. A series of forty plates under the title ‘Wild flowers of Cyprus’ were published by Filimore in 1973. This small watercolour is not included in the publication and hung in the artist’s cottage in Hampstead. She claimed it was a bunch of her favourite flowers of Cyprus which she kept for herself. Megaw is known for the precision with which she drew her flora.
