Description:

Born in Bucharest, Romania and moved to Munich in 1970, graphic designer, did woodblock work, wall painting, musical and theatrical activities. The artist spent some time in Cyprus pre-1974 and was a friend with the Cypriot painter Adamantios Diamantis. She was an ethnographer intrigued by the Cypriot culture and life and tried to adopt her work and her titles to reflect Cyprus. The print depicts an ancient ship, most probably inspired by the launch of Kyrenia II in 1985, a replica of the ancient Greek vessel sunk just outside the castle of Kyrenia. The motifs framing the ship allude to waves, dolphins appear in the water, while the red colour renders the ship its the focal point.
