Lieutenant Donisthorpe Donne comments on refugees that arrived in Egypt due the rebellion of 1882:

Limassol- Refugees were pouring in from Alexandria in numbers, every sailing and steam ship being full of them, and, until the Bombardment of Alexandria on the 11th of July, they continued to arrive every day in large numbers. So after taking over the police again from Powell we had our work considerably increased in registering their names and nationalities.
