This collection comes from one of eight private photo albums belonging to Selwyn Roberts, who served as a Sergeant in the Cyprus Police Force between 1958 and 1960. This album, including 40 images, is made up of black and white photographic postcards, the majority of which focus the people of Cyprus carrying out daily tasks such as agriculture, pottery production, mining, and animal herding. The final 13 images are postcards of monuments in Athens, Greece.
The images that comprise the online collection were reproduced from the original black and white prints. The titles are based on physical inscriptions, where available, and are otherwise generated on the basis of identifying the people, places and events pictured. CVAR holds digital reproduction of the originals.
