Description:

An elongated oil painting depicting one of the most visited tourist sites on the island. The site is associated with Aphrodite’s birth as well as the Byzantine war border guard Digenis Akritas. This is the location at which Aphrodite is supposed to have steeped on to land from the foam of the sea. The famous rock was thrown against the Saracen fleet by the giant guard Dighenis Akritas who protected the Byzantine borders.
