Swedish archaeologist Alfred Westholm wrote about the thrills of spring in Cyprus:

But spring is coming to Cyprus now. Everything has been coloured by the new annual greenery. The sun’s warmth has grown more noticeable, the most wonderful winds come from the south and the east, driving away the heavy layers of cloud over the snow-capped mountain tops. Thousands of new spring flowers shine amid the craggy cliffs and one’s heart is filled with a huge, endless joy. Cyprus is a thoroughly grandiose landscape, whose smallest details still constantly surprise with their exquisite beauty. The full experience of a Cypriote spring is like a deep breath in the air of paradise. What more can one wish for, than to have this experience at Vouni, which possesses its own atmosphere of Paradise. My great longing now is to once again be completely gripped by the Vouni atmosphere for a time. This wish of mine will soon become reality.
