Rupert Gunnis was participating in a grand garden party at Government House:

Put on uniform and first all of us to the English Church then to inspect the hospital after which to the Parade of the Troops on the moat. The S.L.I. and Zaptiehs very well done, a salute of all guns and a feu-de-jour, I thought the Police marched very well. Then to the Greek Church, a short service by the Archbishop, rather well done. Back to the House and dismissed the escort and to have our photographs taken by Mangoian. A Garden party in the evening to which about 440 people came. Very hard work, glad when all had gone.
