Rupert Gunnis, ADC to Sir Ronald Storrs, had a special interest in the Cyprus Museum and had assumed the role of its guardian, later becoming Inspector of Antiquities:

Having got the mail off, I went to the museum. It has long been a source of worry to me that not one of the exhibits have been labelled, so I decided to get this done. I arranged with the Archbishop, Cadi, and Canon Newham to provide me with a Greek, Turkish and English writer respectively, which they did and I gave the cards which were only the Government House invitations not any longer wanted and went down and superintended the work. It is slow and very roughly done, but still, better than nothing.
