In her book The Ladies of Medieval Cyprus, Leto Severis writes about Helena Paleologina:

The tragic events of the last years affected Helena’s health which deteriorated rapidly. Her last two, addressed to her husband, wishes were to be buried at the monastery of St George of the Maggans and to prevent the marriage of Charlotte with her first cousin Louis. She died on 11 April 1458. The king did not respect any of her wishes. Her body was buried by the Dominican monks at the Catholic Dominican monastery and immediately after her death, John gave his blessing for the marriage of Charlotte with Louis of Savoy.
