Donisthorpe Donne, Police Commissioner of Limassol, wrote in his diary:

Leaving early the next morning, we arrested a man in his vineyard who had been reported by the muchtar as a villain of the deepest dye. He drew a knife and ran at first, but the zaptieh, appearing over the crest of the hill with a rifle, he was brought to his senses and surrendered to the call. He was soon in tow of the zaptieh and we proceeded down the valley and passed through Potamnitza (Potamittissa) and then crossed over the mountain range to Pelendria, a large vine-growing village.
