"Down to Larnaca and lunch with Demetriou, the ugliest and coldest house I was ever in. Then to inspect the Hore collection of antiques, formed by an island Post Master and now belonging to his widow, who wants to sell it to the museum. It was hard to judge its value as it was all crowded into one room and very dirty. I am however in favour of buying it, but I fear we shan’t get it for less then £100. Then to visit the mosque of Tekke, where the nurse of the Prophet Mahamed is buried, a most charming place and one of the most delightful Mahamedan shrines I have ever seen. Tea with Pophams."
