Description:

The watercolour portrays the upper part of the Latin Cathedral of St. Sophia turned into a mosque in 1571. It then acquired the two pencil shaped minarets and was renamed Selimiye Mosque. The edifice was one of the most popular subjects to be represented by foreign artists exhibiting the oriental aspect of Nicosia town.
