Description:
Codrington spent much time in Cyprus and travelled all over the island. His brushes and palette were employed to glorify the light and the colours of the landscape and to record most of the important monuments. The view reminds the observer of a similar perspective given by Louis Francois Cassas in the 18th century. In early medieval times, Saint Hilarion mountain was often referred to as Didymus to describe its two peaks. The watercolour affords the view of the Kyrenia shore between the two peaks, with Saint Hilarion castle on the left.
