Loukia Nikolaidou was the first Cypriot woman artist. In her work, she portrayed extensively the Cypriot landscape and its people. Platres is a mountain resort which the artist often visited and stayed at. Humble houses in front of a mountain background come to life with vivid colours in an almost naïve composition.
